I remember that the artwork was good for that time - probably because of the colour (woot GBC!). And the plotline wasn't that bad too - though I don't remember much. They're probably not remaking it anytime soon (unlike PKMN Blue/Red which were taken again as Firered/Leafgreen) ... but who knows - keep the hopes up!
