Review of Ai Yori Aoshi

Just another little thing I worked on, let me know what you think.

This story is about a young man, Kaoru Hanabishi who was separated from his mother at a young age and forcibly raised in the Hanabishi house. When he had enough money he left the Hanabishi and started to live on his own and attended a College in Tokyo. On one fateful day on his way home from College he came upon a bewildered young woman in a kimono looking for her gate. Kaoru being the nice guy that he is helps her and learns that she is heading home on the same train as him, on the train to his misfortune he discovers that she is looking for a man. Again Kaoru's kindness gets the better of him and he helps her find the mans house, unfortunately when they arrive they come to an abandoned lot and the young woman finds herself in a state of shock and depression. Kaoru at a loss of words takes her to his apartment and tries to cheer her up, he asks her if she has any other clues about his whereabouts or anything about him. She has a picture of them together as children, Kaoru thinks it is pointless but to his surprise he recognizes the picture. It's a picture of himself and his childhood friend, Aoi-chan. The young distraught woman now known as Aoi-chan can't believe her ears as the man next to him is the person she is searching for and in a spur of the moment leaps into his arms and cries tears of joy. Kaoru now completely lost manages to calm Aoi-chan down and discovers that Aoi-chan has waited eighteen years for this day, as she bows her head and tells Kaoru that they are to be married...

Wow, that's pretty in-depth.
I don't remember a whole lot about the anime... and that usually means it's not my cup of tea but I know a lot of other people would love it ^^

I loved the manga. The art was really beautiful!!! (SPOILER ALERT!!!) Still, the ending, while good, it wasn't perfect. The rest of the characters just grow up and get other jobs, nothing else on their personal lives. The fateful confrontation with the Hanabishi and Aoi's parents wasn't all that climactic, I was expecting more. Plus, the love scene (which was the reason why this final volume came wrapped in a plastic bag and was rated MATURE ) looked painful and the art style didn't help at all here!!

Oh well, you can't have it all, I guess.

I never read the manga, but I did enjoy the anime. I found it rather amusing. I always find animes where they put someone that's supposed to be American in them amusing. They're always funny.

That was his actual opinion part that made it a review. He could have gone more in depth. I'm not saying it was a good review, but apparently you've never read a review Lawrence_Bastard. They're usually 80-90% plot summary.

Apparently you've never written a review, Ralifar. The weak lazy ones are plot summaries with a small comment about how good it is at the end. The good ones describe in detail the positive and negative aspects of the subject. I know this because I've written about 100 reviews of animes, music composers, and video games just to practice writing. Not to mention I've learned in various essay writings that you don't summarize the plot; you assume the reader already knows enough about the subject or can find out on his/her own.

So way to try to seem like a big shot by putting me in my place but you're just not up to the task.

First off, I'm sure we've all heard... Winning a fight on the internet is like winning the Special Olympics...

You don't have to belittle him like that. You could have been a little more courteous and said something along the lines of 'This is more of a summary than a review but good job in summing it up' You don't have to stroke your ego by posting your resume on here.

At any rate, this isn't like a formal review. It doesn't have to stick to invisible guidelines. Let him 'review' as a summary if he wants; you don't have to troll people.

It's a preview anyway

I'd just like you to read a review written by a man that gets paid ridiculous amounts of money to review movies. I'm pretty sure you've heard of him. His name is Roger Ebert. He does a bit of an intro that's a bit more professional than Saito-san's. I think it's understandable considering he's more than likely had years more experience. The overwhelming majority of the review is a summary. I think you'll find that if you browse through others he's written you'll find the same. Here is the link:

Unless you're a published and syndicated (I can italicize words too) reviewer then I don't really think you need say anything more. Regardless, I won't be responding to anything else you say because there's never a winner in this kind of foolish argument.
