it started subconsciously when Nickelodeon's after school programming featured shows imported from japan.. The truth is those shows were probably already 10 years old so I'm sure they go tthem cheap.

I'm talking about Grimm's Fairy Tales, Noozles, and a few other that were shown.. These shows were so excellent. Much better than the garbage on tv these days. Anyway, here's a link to Grimm's Fairy Tales.. This stuff was the bomb. My sister and I loved this stuff without ever knowing that it was Japanese.

Grmim's Fairy Tales --- YouTube - Grimm's Fairy Tales Classics Puss 'N Boots Part 1/4
Noozles Japanese intro --- YouTube - The Noozles
Adventure's of Little Koala ---- YouTube - Adventures of the Little Koala - intro
Little Bits ---- YouTube - The Littl' Bits Intro

Good stuff. Great programming for children.

Hmmm it was a while ago - I think that it's either reading manga (my cousin made me read the entire Ranma 1/2) that made me watch hthe anime, or watching Gundam Wing on TV ... I don't remember which, but both were probably the triggers that got me hooked!

Ranma 1/2 was my gateway drug for anime. I had seen DBZ and Sailor Moon on TV along with Voltron and G-Force among others, but Ranma was the first anime that made me want to find others. And I agree with the fact that the Nancy Grace show is a disgrace to TV.

I would have to say Higurashi, its a very strange anime and even though I'm kinda lazy and don't like to read the subtitles for an entire series that one got me hooked. I mean how often does an anime start with a young man beating two girls to death with a baseball bat. It was pure genius!! To go from that "WTF?!?" factor to humor and back again, only to retell the story over and over with different twists and viewpoints, you don't ever really see that. I mean, the whole story runs like 4 to 5 episodes in length, but because they keep retelling it or changing it its like 25 episodes long.

I loved how because the writer had A.D.D (I'm guessing) he throws in what's called the "time-killing" chapter which had almost nothing to do with the original story, but was equally screwed up.

but yeah, that show has caused me to enjoy anime that's not been dubbed yet, but still very enjoyable. Although I haven't found any anime of late to totally catch my attention like that show did

I watched Naruto on CartoonNetwork, then I got sick of waiting for the next episode so I looked for it online. Two summers ago I watched all the episodes from the middle of the chunin exams to the most recent shippuden episode. I was probably watching twenty episodes a day that whole summer. oh, and I watched one of the movies too, I cant remember off the top of my head which, but yeah. Then I branched out.
