Which anime made you "cross the line"? -

By which I mean, which anime did you watch that made you decide to give other animes a shot? It wouldn't necessarily be your first anime, as often times we just like a show for what it is.
For me, my line-crosser would be Cowboy Bebop. After watching the series, I decided to give other animes with that kind of style a shot. This led me to watch Outlaw Star, and Trigun, and Big O, and pretty soon I was officially hooked.
"Getting drunk when I didn’t mean to? What the hell do these dumb bastards think we’re doing--slipping and falling into vats of liquor?" -Matt tells it like it is to AA
I used to only watch DBZ cause it was on when I was a kid. But I recently took a friends advice and watched Death Note. It was very good. Deep and involved unlike the purely action DBZ. This made me want to look into other animes if they can be this good.
Samurai X: Reflections is wat got me hooked. afterwards, i tried out Rurouni Kenshin, both the anime and the manga, and frm there, i just kept trying different knids of manga. i didnt stick 2 just 1 genre, tho. i tried watever i could get my hands on.
Spirited Away, completely hook to anime since then.
omg, all the Miyazaki movies are timeless classics. i even hav friends who arent in2 anime, but still like the Miyazaki movies. Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind- everything he made is just awesome!
Dragonball Z is what made me give other animes a shot. It was my hook so to speak. Wasn't the first anime that I watched either. Speed Racer was the first, but it didn't make me want to watch more. Yakno? So Dragonball Z was the anime that opened up that world to me.
I sort of don't know. I used to watch Pokemon, Cardcaptors (now I watch Cardcaptor Sakura ^^), and Sailor Moon when I was a little kid, but I don't think those count as "the line-crosser". I think the line crosser for me was Tokyo Mew Mew (it's scary, but true), and that's when I took the plunge into the wonderful world of manga and anime.
Eh, on second thought, Naruto was what got me deep into anime.
When you said "cross the line," I thought you meant turn gay. I was like "Woah, what's happening here?"
It was most likely DBZ for me too. Well actually that got me interested, but I never actually went beyond whatever was on Toonami at that time. I can't actually remember when was the first time I watched anime onine.
