Smile What Do You Feel About Bad Subbed or Dubbed Anime?

How do you feel when an anime that is Subbed or Dubbed goes bad and awry? Do you feel angry that you want to smash your TV/Computer? Or do you laugh and make fun of it?

There's this subbed anime version I watch and the dialog goes like this:
Char: "You are terribly weak".
When instead it should be like this:
Char: "You're weak like hell !".

You see the first one is soo polite that it make me laugh. The second version conveys the meaning and the attitude of the character better.

The dubbed version I watch tend to change the characters name and like WTH is that ! Americans who watch Detective Conan there knows what I'm talking about. (Shinichi Kudo - Jimmy Kudo, Kogoro Mouri - Richard Moore). The same goes for my country.

kyren, I agree with you. Its really annoying. People only learn formal speech when they learn a second language nowadays.

I don't like some subs because they're too formal but dubs are worse... The voices tends to be more childish and the names... somethimes it's really aweful... -.-'

Some Dubs I actually do not mind. But then their are others, like Higurashi (When the Cicada's Cry or When They Cry) That just makes my ears bleed. Literally. D:

I don't hate dubs all the time. It usually depends on which I hear first. If I hears subs first, I'll prefer subs over dubs. If I hear a dub version first, I can watch either. Cowboy Bebop's dubs were pretty good to me. There are some that are so bad I'll dislike it even if I watch the dub version first.

I also like it when they dub OP, ED, and any other singing in the series. It shows some effort even if it sucks. So it's usually okay or good (like Speed Racer or Sailer Moon), or so bad it's actually kind of funny in an ears bleeding sort of way (Haruhi's God Knows and Lost My Music).

same here.. i prefer subs instead of dubs.. cause dubs.. most of the times ruins the whole feel of the anime. and one thing especially, which i just watched recently: shounen onmyouji. the main lead (forgot the name cause i dont even wanna watch it anymore afterwards) says a buddhist chanting with american accent. i was like.. what the? it makes me shiver with 'eeeww' feeling and my ear goes itchy.

i totally agree with names changed like the case with detective conan (even the title's changed right?) just same as initial-d. i dont read it anymore cause it follows the tokyopop's name changing.. takumi becomes tak? itsuki becomes iggy? what? they have good names.. dont change them just because you like it..

I sometimes feel that with dubs they go out and look for terrible voice actors most of the time, it never used to be that bad with older anime. Also I feel that a dub changes the feel of a show from how it was intended to be no matter how good it is so I will usually watch it subbed if it isn't origianlly in English.

Subbed Or Dubbed?
Are You Saying Foreign Cartoons Arent Translated Well Because They Convey Exact Meaning Or Dont Convey Exact Meaning?
Youre The Kinda Guy Who Wants Dialogue To Be Changed To Sound Angsty But Wants The Names To Stay The Same Is What I Got So Far
If I Subbed And Or Dubbed Foreign Cartoons Id Try To Translate It Very Closely Without Sounding Like A Retarded Chink In The Process Weather The Audience Likes It Or Not
Its Like The Dark Knight
Its Only Pg 13 And It Was The First Movie To Proved That You Can Be The Best Movie Without Saying Fuck 1365000 Timmes
