Default Who makes the best digital cameras?

BE SURE TO READ ABOUT WHAT THIS IS ABOUT BEFORE YOU POST, PLEEEEEASE!!!

Who makes the best digital cameras, for your needs?

Your needs could be that you need a high optical zoom amount. Or you need overall picture quality. Maybe you need compactness. What about internal storage? Battery life?

Overall, Sony CyberShots are my favorites. I used to like Kodaks, but Kodaks have kind of fallen down lately... they have a ton of cool features, but they don't come with rechargeable batteries standard, and the picture quality really isn't that great (compared to Sony, anyway), and they don't look solid; they look bulky, like toys, and as though they'd look "old" very soon.

Anyway, Sonys, on the other hand, take superb pictures, no matter which class you get. They all have at least "good" battery life. They all have enough features to get you by, and they look as though they're from five years in the future, so they'll look great for years. Considering all this, their prices aren't that bad, either.

I'm going to buy this one soon, so I can take pictures for the science fair I'm particpating in at school (in fifth and seventh grade it's required, but for me, eighth grade, it's optional). It's a Sony CyberShot DSC-W55/L

What about everyone else here? We're glad to hear one another's opinion, but if you vote for the poll, please post, and actually give reasons, reasons I talked about above, so your posts are actually meaningful? Thanks!

Nikon. I need a camera that allows me to take the most professional looking photographs, and Nikon cameras allow me to do just that.

Nikon cameras are indeed amazing. I've been using one for a photography class. I wouldn't go with any other unless you wanted slimness/portability.

I was at Walmart last night, and I was examining all the cameras on display. The one I gave a link to above, they had the silver model there. It's AMAZING! All the different color settings, it's really nice. Its ergonomics are better than what they look like on the camera. It has the same basic menu and beep system as my dad's camera, but it has the more features, and, of course, slimmer body. The turnon time is really fast. I like the noise it makes when it turns on, too, same exact one my dad's makes.

I saw a few Nikons there. They didn't seem that feature-packed, and they were $300 while this one was $199. The case was boxy and ugly and the usability was confusing to me. The beeps and sounds it makes are annoying!

The Kodaks looked as nice as the Sonys, though. Although the picture quality isn't as good. I'm definitely getting that model; I REALLY liked it when I tried it out last night.

I voted Canon, because I needed a camera for casual use, and the Powershot SD750 was perfect; cheap, lightweight, huge screen, lots of features, and of course, good pic quality.
