Default Music review website

Right a bit back I posted that I had a domain and webspace I was doing nothing with, as well as an IPB licence. I've decided to extend an invite to the good people here at LOCP to help me/us create a website for reviewing music. Albums from many genres. Now I need peoples help here because a) We all like music of sorts b) I can't like all the music out there c) Some of you like the music I don't, who else better to review it?

For example, Briane and Aaron have an intense love for metal of kinds I can't imagine. Phil is like some perverse vault of musical knowledge. Lads like Manny and Ben (If I can get him about) affiliated with dance and club music etc etc. Basically, as a group, we're musically diverse and there isn't anywhere else I'd rather take this. We all know our shit and if I left you out, it's because I'm a forgetful cunt.

I don't care about money. No google ads or shit like that. All I care about is music and pointing people in the right direction.

So anyway, who is interested? I'd need graphical help, coding help and of course, content help, which everyone here (practically) is invited to contribute and take a seat. If you're interested, you've got the "job"

I'll be interested in submitting content whenever I get off my arse and start writing reviews again. Although honestly I'd been thinking about making a frontsite for Fool's Gold for quite some time, and that seems like as good a subject for the frontsite as any. Considering that music is 99% of the activity we have there anyway.

Well, fancy helping me with ideas? If anyone is interested enough to bother with this, I'd rather not take charge of the idea myself. I wouldn't know what to do all by myself. I'm thinking more than just a random reviews as well, perhaps being more meticulous and pinning it right down to different genres with reviewers for a section. I really dunno though. Like I say, I need help because I suck at thinking ideas for myself. I work better in groups.

Fools-gold would be welcome, too. Just dunno how well they'd mix with LOCP. That and also, I'm inviting my offlines friends who visit online, too.

EDIT:

Would be a good idea to affiliate with www.pandora.com , www.last.fm and Edmans new games site etc etc

Honestly man, the idea sounds good (However, you most definitely need to limit who can post and approve things, rather than a clusterfuck of reviews if the site hits off). I'd love to help out but free time is limiting. Once you get it up and running I would gladly write content when I have a spare moment or two. Sadly, don't have much time to help out with the development of such a site.

I'm willing to help out as well. My musical background is mostly classic rock, so I can tackle reviewing some of the big names out there. I also listen to blues and alternative, and play guitar/keyboard to write my own music if that matters in any way.

I also co-run a rock news website, http://www.rockthirst.com/.
Perhaps we could affiliate it up.

I have a friend who is very willing to teach me some SQL and slightly more advanced php than I already know. And definately with the limiting shit. This is where I need the help, I'm probably the last person to know anything about moderating a website properly.

The massive black squares on RockThirst do not work well with the design at all, far too high contrast from the rest.

You'd probably get quite a bit of response if you also posted about it on FG. I have quite a few ideas floating around in my head myself, but I'm not going to be around much today so I'll explain what I'm thinking when I have moar free time.

I can cover the freak folk side of things. New Weird America, Devendra Banhart, Animal Collective, Joanna Newsome, Espers, Vashti Bunyan etc. I think i'm the only one here that can do that.
