Alright this is the guide to posting news for all of our news reporters / managers. We are using a heavily modified version of Nucleus news, and in this guide I will teach you how to use the admin panel, how to post news, and how to edit your news.
You will have to login to the admin panel of the news script first, the admin panel is located at this address:
Make sure to bookmark it. Now that you are there
(Click HERE for Screenshot) you can login using your username, and the password given to you
Note: it may not be your forum password, it depends on what password you give to the admin that sets up your account
Menu
Once you are logged in, you will see a number of options listed, but most importantly at the top you will see a table called "Gaming Extreme News"
(Click HERE for Screenshot). This has three options, Add Item, Edit/Delete Items, and Bookmarklet. The only ones you will need to use are Add Item & Edit/Delete Items, ignore Bookmarklet.
Adding News
Click on Add Item to create news. You will be taken to a large table with a number of fields in it
(Click HERE for Screenshot). Title, Body, Category, Submit, and Extended.
The title is of course, the title of the article. It should be basically what the article is about in a nutshell, and should catch the readers attention.
The body is the part of the article that will be shown on the news page, before you click on "Read On". A very important part of the body is the picture, and you can see in the screenshot how pictures must be done. The picture must be 120 x 90 (
See below for further instructions on pictures) and they must be put in this tag:
Quote:
|
< div class="leftbox">< img src="picturelocation" style="border:1px black solid;">< /div>Blah Blah
|
Note: Remove all the spaces on the right of the < in the above code, and none on a new line, they must all be clumped together.
This will make sure the picture is on the left, and surrounded with a nice thin black border. The message in total should not be longer than 8 lines long.
Any excess article (there should be lots) goes in the Extended area. This part is added on to the first part after a member clicks on "Read On", to display the full article.
Category lets you chose which game category the article belongs in (this is important, because it decides which gaming category on the site the news will be displayed, so make sure you chose wisely)
There are three submit options, Add Now, Add Later, Add to Drafts. Add Now posts the article right away, Add Later lets you chose the date in which the article is postd, and Add to Drafts lets you save your incomplete article so you can work on it later. Add Now is the most common and prefered option, so you will find yourself using this the most.
Listing News
After submitting, you will be taken to a screen that shows all of the news you have submitted
(Click HERE for Screenshot), with the newest at the top and the oldest at the bottom. You can search for a certain article, and chose how many articles to display on a page, and change pages.
Each post of news has a few options: Edit, Comments, Move, Delete. Edit allows you to go back and change your news, incase you forgot something or notice an error. Comments are disabled, so you can ignore that option. Move lets you relocate the article to a different category, and delete lets you delete the news article entirely.
Viewing News
To view your news post on the site, simple goto the Gaming News section (
http://www.gamingextreme.com/news.php) and it should be the newest on the list
(Click HERE for Screenshot). You will notice that the news you have posted will have an "Edit" button beside the "Read On" button. This allows you to edit your own news quickly and easily right from the main site (no one else can see that edit button except admins and news managers).
Editing News
By clicking the Edit button, a pop-up will appear that lets you edit your article
(Click HERE for Screenshot). You have the same options as when you edit the article from the admin panel, just a different format.

After logging in, you can put your pictures in there, and link them to
