Hacking is mearly the abuse of power. Hackers have designed ways to infiltrate systems, and this knowledge can be used ligimatley on occasion, but is really built off of advanced systems knowledge. If you know computers and network systems along with OSs and the sort, you can figure out how to infiltrate systems.
"Sell-outs" have been hired by many companies, people whom used to hack for entertainment, whom have desided to make money. These people get paid to think of the voneribilities of systems, and find ways to protect them.
Without them, our firewalls and intregrated security procedures woulden't be narly as potent as they are today.

he has a point. but being a hacker can sometimes ive you an idea of how other hackers think. every hacker does things different, but it may help depending on the situation. this time, in our situation, i don't think it would have helped

You mean you want to be a while hat hacker

There are 3 types of hackers, White hat, Grey hat and Black hat.

White hats use there knolage to fix secutiry problems with programs
Grey hats are simaller but also hack sites and systems as well
Black hats just hack anything they can

Hackers don't hack to destory. That's a cracker. Hackers log into a system to learn more about the information they desire without destorying. Usually crackers find system vurnerabilites and exploit them and defacing the site. Nobody can teach you to hack, just like wanking. You find out on your own.

Oh, and Ragnarok is correct too, but I don't think crackers deserve to be named hackers.

Please stop misusing the word hacker.

Well I also want to know how to hack but never know where to find sites that teach you. I would not be a black hat, I wil protect my computer and learn how to hack into others but not harming any files. Just to broaden my knowledge like maths - finding out a new formula just like getting into other systems. It is called curiosity and if don't succeed, carry on doing it till you can.

I really hate hackers. Not just cause of what happened to FFX, but because they invade privacy. The stuff on my computer is MINE and nobody elses. It's exactly like a dude that breaks into your house and looks through all your personal stuff. Sure, he may not cause any damage, but still, I hate having that privacy invaded.

Oh, and btw, if anybody finds info on the hacker, post it here. Or send it to me by email. I'll find this joker and beat the shit out of him in real life. (Message to the hacker: It don't matter how "LEET" you are, it won't help when a dude in REAL LIFE kicks your ass. THIS IS GONNA HURT!) I will go out of my way to find that joker. I will beat the shit out of him constantly. "HOW F'N LEET DO YOU FEEL NOW? *punch* HUH? *punch* YEAH! DIDN'T THINK SO!"

My god. You people sadden me. What does it matter whether or not the forums got hacked? It's just a freaking website. If it goes down, go find something else to do. Play football outside, go get laid, something. The forums are not your life, they are merely an escape from it. Too much escapism is a bad thing, you know.
