Character Bio Tutorial:

This is to help newbies in making a bio. This shows a basic outline of what can be involved but it is always nice to go beyond what I say. If you want to add more by all means add more. Keep your characters original and your own creations, it adds to the detail of role-playing.


1. The Basics: This is a section that should be included with every character you make whether it is for battling or not.

Name: Obvious
Race: What race (Human, Elf, Dwarf, etc)
Age: Obvious
Weapons: Basic List of Weapons, you can go into more detail in a weapons section later on…
Height: Obvious
Weight: Obvious
Armor: What kind of armor does your character posses.
Magic: Basic list of magic elements your character can use/manipulate.
Eyes: Obvious
Hair: Obvious


2. Description: Basically a detailed description about your character. What he/she looks like and wears.


3. History: Okay now every character needs to have a history. What of its childhood? Its training? Its motivation and life. This is a pretty easy section. You can add detail about your characters personality here but I find it better for you to have your own section. Maybe a paragraph on what your character acts like, his attitude, motivation, etc.


4. More in Depth Sections: Here you can include more in depth sections about your characters like weapons/fighting style/persona/etc. You do not have to do these but it is looked upon highly when these sections are complete and detailed.

5. Magic: This section is for you to explain your magic and skills. Please take a moment to explain where you get your magic and strength is from, how you use it and what types you can use.

No, you create them yourself, using your imagination. It's best to make it imaginative and original. Make sure it's not too powerful though, and we don't like characters/moves etc. copied from games and other sources.

As classic RPG vertern and former Bio Mod, I have a few tips that these "Generic" RPGers didn't say. These tips are mainly to make your Bio look better, and not like you copied from the toilet paper which certain RPGers may have done.

1) Microsoft WORKS!: When you make a bio, try and make it a word processer first. This does two things; first, it makes sure your file is saved so if the forum is wiped clean then you can bring it back. Even mods forget to do this, as Exo will tell you. Exo: Oh, bite me, Jhang. I didn't make the hacker show up. -_-;; Second, you can use the built-in spell checker it should have to insure the mods won't mix up words, and gives your bio the illusion that it is a work of art.
2) o turn off Smilies: I can't stress this enough. Actually, I can. You see, sometimes when making a great bio you slip up, and your "Occupation: Demon of Darkness" becomes Occupationemon of Darkness. The : and D are the most common "Unsmilies" in bios, but still, it is best to turn them off all together. Just go at the bottom of the post and uncheck it.

3) Tweaks of Trade: If you make a Great Bio, and you love it to death, then you might as well use the Vb code to make it shiny. After all, it makes it look bigger, and "weapons" is much more cool if you use Weapons. However, don't overdo it, and watch out for untied code, it can make things look very akward.

4) Have fun!: A good bio is one which has all of the basics above, but a great one is something original. Instead of having a swordman who left his hometown for revenge over the death of his father, try having him skip town because his 64 girlfriends just found out about each other, and now the "hero" has 64 angry female fatals which want his blood. Now, while someone can make the first one cool, the second one can be quite interesting to fight. After all, if he was demon hunting, and while he was on the trail of a demon, Lucida, former Heavyweight Champion Boxer and Girlfriend is hot on the trail of the hero? Then we have a plot twist.

The half-demon/half-angel thing would more than likely work if you could figure out a convincing way for your character to be such.

And what do you mean by title?

By title I think he means like Travnia's Angel of Death title for his Travnia RP character and such.

Eh, not a needed thing if that's what you mean, HP. Just kind of a nickname that probably ties in with his/her history.

This is how the character's battle.

It's text based, and you work with your opponent on mutual respect and skills. In some cases people battle it out, alreadying knowing the end.

It's a very very popular feature comman on 100's of forums.
