How do i get a golden chocobo in final fantasy 7?

There are two ways that I know of to get a gold chocobo:

1) Breeding a Green and Blue Cocobo with a Carob Nut to get a Black Chocobo.
2) Then, breed the Black Chocobo with a Wonderful-rated chocobousing a Zeio nut to hopefully get a Gold chocobo.
(note: not always garuanteed, but chances are better if the parents are both S-Class racers.)

the other way to get one is if you beat Ruby Weapon and trade the Desert Rose you win to the man in Kalm Town for the chocobo.

Mountain Chocobo: Mate a Great or a Good chocobo using Carob nuts. You can only steal Carob nuts from Vlaskorados that roam in the woods near Bone Village. Increase your chances of breeding a special chocobo a special chocobo if the parents are both S class racers at the Gold Saucer.

River Chocobo: Do the same as Above. But you must have Both a Mountain and River Chocobo.

The Mountain and River Chocobo: The black chocobo can only be gotten by mating both a Mountain and River chocobo together, using a Carob nut. Increase the chances of getting the black chocobo by upgraded them to S class racers at the Gold Saucer.

The Gold Chocobo: Have the black chocobo mate with a WONDERFUL CHOCOBO and use a Zeio Nut. The nuts can only be found on the small island northeast of the chocobo ranch. You must steal them from goblin battles there.

What Travnia said and, for the Green/Blue (Mountain/River) ones, you can mate two great chocobos and mate the one that is born with it's parent to get the other one (if the first is blue, you get a green one and if it's green you get a blue one). I find it easier to do it that way since you have to train less chocobos and, according to my observations, you have a higher chance of sucess. You still should train them to, at least, class A.

erm if you want a real good gold chocobo for races train your chocobo's to the S class and then breed them

beat ruby and give the thingy to the old men in the first city you went or catch diffrent types of chocobos and make them mate
