Question Anyone Epic suggestions? - 05-07-2008, 02:59 PM

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has a list of their favorite "epic" video game soundtracks? I'm searching the archives and I would love other peoples thoughts on what they think are the ideal RPG Fantasy Epic adventure soundtracks.

I'm trying to find music that is close to Epic movie soundtracks like Kingdom of Heaven and Gladiator. More on the lines of Morrowind I guess. I am listening to Oblivion, I just downloaded Xeno Gear and I am going to try that out. Final Fantasy is ok, but I have heard it so much that I can't bare listening to it lol.

If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

The 'Tales of' series, perhaps?

Mmm. Well... not really, actually... Symponia's and Abyss' are good... Other than that, it's all word of mouth.

Actually, try Star Ocean (PS2). That one I can highly recommend. ^^

Does it have to be Video Game soundtracks? There's tons of great epic anime OSTs, etc.

anyway, on the video game front, Hrm... Chrono Chross?

Have you heard the Final Fantasy Tactics soundtrack? I know it's an FF soundtrack, but it doesn't really sound like your typical FF fare. Different composer. The same composer who wrote the FF12 stuff, actually.

Ragnarok Online 2's OST. It's composed by Yoko Kanno, really nice stuff. Not her best, but still good. '-'

It does not have to be video game soundtracks just epic, adventure-like music. I have never tried anime soundtracks, any suggestions?

Thanks to everyone who responded. I do like some of the final fantasy tactics soundtrack. Thanks IndigoBlues, I downloaded Tales of Symphonia and I liked a few of the songs. I am going to get on Star Ocean and Tales of Abyss when I get the chance. I am downloading Ragnarok right now at work. I’m not sure I would be into Sonic, since I don’t believe it is what I am looking for.

Stubbs the Zombie

... xD Not really
Try Gothic. The game itself was epic. Unless your quest is over

The princess mononoke soundtrack is epic, but in a totally melancholy way.
From SD3, Meridian child is pretty epic.
Yeah. I guess I don't listen to too much epic music.
