I felt compelled to make this thread for those of you who have received some strange sounding private messages lately. On behalf of the staff here at ffdownloads, we would like to apologize that you had to deal with them.

It seems that a member that we have banned 6 times now can't seem to understand the meaning of don't come back. This member would receive an IP ban if the IP address didn't change constantly. But since the Administration cannot IP ban him, we the Moderators have to just watch for another incarnation of him. He's gone by the names: selecttarget, hastalavista, Ion Cannon, ilovesarahtwo, loudspeaker2 and Jabnin2. If you have received any private messages from any of those names, please just ignore his babble. You are not in any danger of getting banned.

I kind of miss selecttarget's hardly readable babble.

It's one thing to read his spam babble. It's a completely other thing when he goes around telling other members in private messages that the mods are going to ban them.

Oh I dont think it's bad that you have banned him/her. It's good that you're letting everyone know what's going on.

But I'm kind of sad that I didn't get a message...

Don't be sad. You would have been just as confused as if you were reading one of his posts.

We don't like having to ban members. We love to ban bots though. But we aren't hard asses that just goes around banning people for no reason. We first try giving warnings if the person is doing something wrong. And believe me... we give them quite a few chances with just warning them. If that doesn't stop it, we give them a three day ban in hopes that it will change their mind about what they are doing wrong and let them know that the next time it will not be for three days. When all else fails, we have no other choice than to give them a permanent ban.

Selecttarget had all of those chances. Sadly he didn't change a thing once he came back after his three day ban was over. After cleaning up behind him, it was decided that we had no other choice than to ban him. But like a bad burrito, he kept coming back to haunt and taunt us. Even Edmunds banned one of his incarnations.

I just want everyone to be able to enjoy posting here. And I want everyone to feel safe here as well. With his past behavior, it was causing the members to feel unsafe... as if they had a stalker watching and messaging them. And I for one will not tolerate that type of behavior.

The part in single quotes is actually some of what he said. I left out a few verys and exclamation points. I also didn't capitalize everything, but it's still a good quote if you're ever writing a paper on mentally disturbed people.

I'd say he's a few too many toppings short of a pizza. Well, I feel safer knowing that there's someone looking out for me higher up the ladder. If I run into him, which I hope I don't, I'll give you a call.
