I'm assuming the Snake River Conspiracy track is a remake of the Smiths song by the same name, which owned. I'll have to check some of that stuff out, the question is if I can be unlalzy enough to download it.

The White Stripes
OMG OMG OMG!!!! NO BASS!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!! Seriously, these are one of the few good bands that get radio play ot there (as suprisingly scarce as their radio play is). And whenever I try and recommend them, people immediatly start saying "OMG OMG OMG!!!!! NO BASS!!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!!". Jesus, on The Stooges' Raw Power, David Bowie produced and pretty much took the bass right out. The Doors didn't use a bass, Jeff Beck doesn't have a bassist, among others. Besides, on several tracks Jack is either using a sub-octave pedal or a real bass.
The next argument people back into is usually "OMG OMG OMG!!!! SHIT DRUMMER!!!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!". I'm not going to defend Meg: She does suck at the drums. But then again, like the lack of bass, they're trying to keep a real raw feel about the music. Typically, it's just cymbal bashing. That's all she'll use, but it's made to sound so awesome. It always fits. Jack plays several insturment and is above average as a guitarist. While he is no Beck or Page, he is a gifted writer and smrt musician. In addition to guitar and vocals, he plays piano, harmonica, drums, bass, acoustic guitar, writes everything and produces. Also, they're some of the greatest performers to ever walk this Earth. I have several bootlegs that blow me away every time I listen to them.
Song Highlights: JOLENE, get the live video from when they were on Conan O'Brien. It's everything a musical performance should be and more.
Others: Appleblossom, Death Letter, Your Southern Can is Mine, Ball and Biscuit, We're Gonna Be Friends, Jimmy the Exploder, Hotel Yorba.

i hate the white stripes.
I recommend:
Porcupine Tree - one of the few bands with guitar solos in their music. they have great songs. i recommend "Trains" and "Sound of Muzak" to any PT newbies. Thay have good lyrics and good musical skillz.
btw, Trav listening to Sixpence None the Richer just scares me.I listen to it, but im one of those romantic sappy types. :skeptic:

On Top E play:

Some bands:
Technical Death Metal (genre of the moment):
Necrophagist
Vital Remains
Psycroptic
Theory In Practise
Spawn Of Possession
Electronica (and now for something completely different):
Squarepusher
Aphex Twin
DJ Shadow
Underworld
Black Metal (tr00 and kvlt):
Emperor
Ephel Duath (jazzy black metal = nice)
Mayhem
Dimmu Borgir (earlier the better)
Soilwork (Ignore the stuff recommended earlier; figure no. 5 is shite. Chainheart Machine all the way, baby)
Punk (blink 182 need not apply):
Crass
The Anti-nowhere league
The Pistols (obviously)
The Damned
The Stranglers (not strictly punk, but often called it and awesome nonetheless)

^^ Damn right. And so do your lists.
I'll also recommend AIR. Makes for some awesome, relaxing electronica.
