Hey all, after a discussion in another thread, about a possible upcoming war, I thought a discussion about the draft is in order.
I'm not going to talk you through the draft, as I'm sure you all know what its about, but I ask you- How many will go willingly?
Personally, I will. I dont give two shits whether the war is against innocents, or whatever bad morale situation we are in, joining the forces when you're drafted is just like paying your taxes.
You're alive and free today, because once a man decided not to dodge the draft, and as I see it, we now owe it to that man, to do the same, for his children, and our children.
I could be just delivering one side of the arguament here, as I'm probably going to end up in the forces draft or no, so what do you guys think?
As I see it:

Pro's:
Increased troop numbers
Its our duty
Only called on in times of peril.
Re-bolster our lines.
Women (edit feminists) are always protesting about how its so unfair, that women get turned down for x job, because they're a woman, lets see how long they last in a warzone.

Con's:
Lack of freedom.
Possibly Imoral situations
Would you really want to see your mum/sister/elderly parents going to fight? Even when the forces med. check says they can, they may not really be able to.
You get shitty troops, who dont know what the fuck they're doing.

You get a 5 star rating. Enjoy.

I might dodge the draft. Depending on the situation.

If we are fighting against Czech Republic or any other "nation" that wants frredom from an oppressor. Fuck it, I'm not going.

But if it does depend on MY family and their security I'd go for it.

And terrorists don't count. Because they're only looking out for their people, just like us.

There isn't a country, or party, or group alive that isn't just looking out for their people.
The difference comes, when they unwisely decide 'who' their people are, and what course of actions they take to protect them.
For instance, I'm a white hetrosexual male.
White hetrosexual men are my people.
White hetrosexual men GENERALLY Aren't violent to each other.
Solution to protect my people?
Wipe out all gays, all blacks, and all women.
Wait, fuck the gender part

If there's some ACTUAL threat to our nation (not talking Iraq here), I'll go, although frankly because of my ADHD I'd be a shitty soldier. I wasn't in support of the Iraq war from the beginning, however, and if there were a draft for additional troops in that quagmire, I wouldn't go.

I am joining the army, so that kinda says it all for me.

Assuming its some sorta physical diesase or something, you can always be a medic, chef, or army release officer (The other soldiers release their sexual tension into you)

Just now Siatek, I got college (final year) so I want to join the TA to do infill infantry and basic training. After college I hope to join the Black Watch regiment, although interest in the royal guards has turned my head as well.
